Archiving Policy

Electronic Backup and Archiving Policy of Journal of Research in Applied Linguistics (RALs)

The Journal of Research in Applied Linguistics (RALs) journal ensures the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content through a well-defined electronic backup and archiving policy. This policy specifies how authors can archive copies of their work in personal repositories, institutional archives, and subject-specific repositories. To maintain the integrity of citations and ensure proper credit to the journal, authors are encouraged to share the Version of Record (VoR) rather than the Accepted Manuscript (AM) whenever possible.

RALs follows an open-access model, meaning that all articles are freely available upon publication under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0). This license allows users to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommercial purposes only, as long as the original authors and source are cited properly.

RALs is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published articles. All articles are stored in a secure electronic repository to ensure continued access and protection against data loss.

Self-Archiving Policy

Authors are permitted to archive different versions of their manuscripts under the following conditions:

  • Submitted Version (Preprint): Authors may deposit their original manuscript (before peer review) in personal or institutional repositories and recognized preprint servers.
  • Accepted Version: Authors may archive the peer-reviewed, accepted version of their manuscript on personal websites, institutional repositories, or subject-specific repositories. However, to ensure citation integrity, the Version of Record (VoR) should be the preferred version for sharing whenever possible.
  • Published Version (Version of Record): Authors may share the final published version via the journal’s website and other platforms by the journal’s open-access policy.

Authors are encouraged to share their work on social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, ResearchGate) as long as they provide a proper citation and a link to the journal’s website. The shared version should ideally include the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure accurate referencing and citation tracking.
